My son ran up to me today during “quiet time” and proclaimed ….
“Guess what, Daddy! I’ve been named King RJ of Basketball!”
I turned to look at him and said “Oh yeah?”
And he screams out “Yeah! I’m gonna go rule my people now!”
So all y’all fools better start forgetting about LeBron and start acknowledging the NEW King of Basketball!
Or else he’ll cross you over …. or pop a cap in yo ass! hahahahaha.

I went with my son, RJ, tonight and registered him for the Steve NashYouth Basketball Program that is being run out of Basketball Manitoba this season.
It is, essentially, a Community Club League that caters to 5-7 year olds and emphasizes the fun and fundamentals of basketball.
My kid has been badgering me all summer about playing basketball and I decided that he was finally ready to try the sport out for himself. I am gonna do my best to keep him focused on it and to not let anyone (including myself) ruin the sport for him. I want him to LOVE the game the way that I do.
So this league plays and practices once a week each. Which means that I my transformation into the Dark Side is now complete as I am essentially a Hockey / Soccer / Basketball Parent.
The only thing left is a “My son is an honour roll student” bumper sticker!
To be fair, I am excited about watching him bumble about on the court and I am eager to take video of his very first foray into organized basketball.
And who knows, in 10 or 15 years (when I am 50 ….. wtf?) we may get to play in the 3 on 3 on the same team! lol. That would be fun.
Cuz I am still gonna be ballin at 50. For sure. And if not, I’ll come out of retirement for one or two off-seasons!
