I went out to the U of W and finally paid our team registration for the upcoming “basketball sneezin” (RJism meaning “season”).
It feels good to have all that out of the way.
Now I can concentrate on breaking ankles due to unpaid fees and breaking hearts with my teardrop.
Okay, so I have no teardrop. But I will definitely break faces with my pointy elbows ….

So Tuesday came around and I am actually starting to build up momentum for the upcoming season.
We had 17 people show up – which is way too many in my opinion – but we made it work. I played better. And my suspicion from last week was right. My jump is a bit quicker and higher than last year. My first step is a bit better and my strength is definitely improved.

This is our existing set of uniforms – in Royal Blue. Also known as Shaka Dula blues or Husky blues.
Well, we’re also ordering new Jerseys this year. They will be in the same style – except in White with Black trim and Blue lettering.
They’ll be hot.

So yesterday I did basketball instead of P90X – I figure it’s 100 times better at Cardio than Cardio-X or Plyo-X.
And as it turns out right now, I am sucking worse than ever. I think it’s because I’ve been working out and because I haven’t played since June of this year. I’m rusty. Everything is moving faster than what it normally does. Plus I’m also hesitant to make my moves offensively. Don’t know why.
Whatever.
Anyway, this week marks the unofficial start to basketball season. We’ve got 2 gyms to practice in right now: Golden Gate Junior High (9:00 – 10:30pm) and Ness Junior High (9:00 – 10:00pm).
I have to confess and say that part of me isn’t even looking forward to the basketball season yet …. it’s bizarre. I’m going in 100% healthy with basically no injuries to hamper me down. I am healthy with no back pain and I think that I am scared to get injured again – don’t wanna set back my rehab in any way right now ….
Plus this last summer was the most fun I have ever had during summer. I did bike riding, swimming, worked out, water-skiing, tubing ….. it was actually a ton of fun this year. So part of me is a bit panicked to see summer go as well.
I think my basketball (and anticipation) will improve once my cardio gets better and my shot reps go up. But it is certainly different for me to not be salivating at the upcoming basketball season ….
